The Business System Group Ltd or the BSG has been awarded as the major IT outsource contract by High Speed 1 (HS1). This were responsible for the management of the high speed rail link between the St Pancras International and the UK entrance of the Channel Tunnel. The Business System Group contract will provide a full 24×7 managed service for the HS1 management team’s IT infrastructure initially supporting 140 users across four separate locations. The BSG in temporarily re-locating HS1 to its own premises whilst HS1’s new Head Office is completed., this was the additional assistance that has been provided. To vacate its current location the HS1 has been enabled, its current location on schedule and provided easy access to its new systems, thus simplifying the migration process whilst ensuring the business could continue as normal. The critical to the HS1’s, the selection of the Business System Group has the ability to provide the rapid and flexible service, this is to increase the IT efficiency, then to decrease the cost and to enable the HS1’s IT infrastructure to the sufficiently flexible to meet the potential changing business demands. Graham Gunn, Head of Corporate Services at HS1 says “BSG are the right size and fit for HS1 in the right location (both head offices are just over a mile apart in London) to provide a tailored IT managed service. Consequently BSG will act as an ‘IT shepherd’ for HS1 on all IT related matters.” Graham continues “In an ever changing business environment, we need to work with a Managed Services partner that can offer us a flexible service that is able to adapt to the way we work allowing us to deliver a first class service to our customers.” The BSG has designed the scalable and resilient service, this is based on the VMware technology, to provide a multitude of services, including hosting, managed email using Microsoft Exchange 2007, VoIP and an Application Server to facilitate the Finance and HR Applications. To allow data growth at a predictable cost whilst being securely protected to ISO27001 compliant standards. , the environment was attached to the BSG Guardian Shared Storage and Backup Infrastructure. In allowing the most issues within the environmental that can be detected and remediated early before, any of the significant service issues arise, wherein the entire environmental was fully monitored through the Business System Group. The BSG delivers all the required components that was under a Service Level Agreement, this is based on the system availability and the BSG that also provide the desk side support this was based from their Network Operations Centre or the NOC, this was located in the City Road.
