A few days ago there took a place two- day high level conference with the support of the U.S State Department, TECHCAMP MOLDOVA, in Chisinau, the capital of Moldova. Its goals was effective cooperation of civil society with local government due to modern technology, particularly Internet resources, open databases and applications.
The program under Secretary Clinton’s Civil Society initiative is the TechCamp, it is an effort to galvanize the technology community to assist CS organizations across the globe by providing capabilities, assistance to enable CS organizations to harness the latest ICT advances to build their digital capacity and resources.
The fourth event in a series supporting U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s Civil Society is the TechCamp Moldova. The event pairs leaders in the technology community with civil society organizations to provide training, resource and assistance that enables civil society organizations to harness the latest technologies to build their capacity and advance their missions.
The previous state which hosted the delegation was the Lithuania. At Vilnius, there Hillary Clinton herself took part in the conference. The unique project has been held in Chile and Indonesia. To learn how to use new informational technology to activate civic community participation in state’s life, participant have two days for it to learn.
In the conference tech trainers facilitated unconference-style discussion and workshops with CSOs on topics on ranging mapping to data scrapping to citizen journalism. The participants developed a list of problem statements at the end of the first day.
Open Government Partnership is one of the highlights of the event that Moldovan participated. Open Government DAta refers to data and information produced or requested by the Government or by the entities under the control of the Government. For strengthening the participatory democracy and economic competitiveness of a country is important resource. To provide transparency, participatory Governance, social and commercial values is the main objective of the project. It has become the world’s 16 one. The project is working on open government data sets.
The presiden t of the “CMB” Training Center, NGO located in Chisinau Veronica Cretu and the head of the eDiplomacy office’s Civil Society 2.0 implementation effort, United States Department of State Noel Dickover hosts the TechCmp Moldova.
CISCO, MICROSOFT, IBM, State representatives, NGOs and local technology communities and Abdul Seck is the participants of the meeting. About the work of the social web platforms there have been many training sessions such as maps, it is already exist in many countries as a resources for the publication of signals about certain incidents.
It was declared that possibly in the nearest months, Moldova will be able to become the member of the PayPal, e-commerce business allowing payments and money transfer to be made through the Internet.
