Three, a mobile telecoms provider has declared a management contract deal with Huawei, a Chinese ICT provider. The 5-year agreement is worth almost £120 million, Huawei will deliver service management for Three’s transport network, ICT applications and core network located in the United Kingdom.
Ericsson was the previous handler of the contract and now they will see a numerous permanent position sent to the Chinese company, Huawei. Three carries out 43 percent of mobile data traffic in the United Kingdom and the CEO of Three UK, Dave Dyson stated that the decision to choose Huawei to handle the core network operations undergoes a severe procurement process.
He also added that they selected the partner that will be best in meeting their requirements and that will fulfilled the long-term perception of how their network should be driven and handled. Apart from that he emphasized that this kind of partnership is just one of the arrangement that sees them improve the capability of their Ultrafast network, the partnership is a way that the current team will carry on in supporting the management of their core network.
Victor Zhang, the CEO of Huawei acknowledged the agreement with the mobile telecoms provider, Three as it will serve as an opportunity to establish the firm’s capabilities in the United Kingdom. He added that Huawei is very glad to be selected by Three for the operations management of their core network.
The partnership is an essential move in creating a world-class managed services capability, Huawei has been in the United Kingdom for 11 years and by bringing out on the demands of their customers, they persevere to establish and improve their business. To deliver ICT applications management in the United Kingdom, Huawei chose Tech Mahindra, an Indian company as its partner in the field.
The said agreement with Three still persisted in spite of Huawei gets some doubt with other regions. A year-long investigation by the United States Congress classified the Chinese telecoms provider as a security threat, while Australia has banned Huawei from contracts to manage its national broadband network. The report indicated that the Chinese firm Huawei cannot be trusted to be self-reliant of the Chinese government and military. On the other hand to enhance its reputation, Huawei offered to deliver Australia free access to its software source code and equipment.
