    14 dead, thousands evacuated in central Europe floods

     

     

    The floods caused by the torrential rain left fourteen people dead. In the Central Europe, the residents rescued the rising waters in the boats , buses and helicopters. In Poland, Germany the Czech Republic and Lithuania, the rivers burst their banks and dykes. In the western Europe about 500 firefighters tackled wildfires in Portugal. Polish Interior Minister Jerzy Miller told reporters that ” Three people drowned in southwestern Poland, near the border with Germany and the Czech Republic”. Polish firefighters’ spokesman Pawel Fratczak told AFP. that ” A woman drowned in the town of Bogatynia, which was heavily damaged by a river that burst its banks on Saturday, forcing 700 people to leave their homes, ” and “Another woman drowned in the same region, where a 55-year-old fireman was also swept away when a dyke burst,” The Neisse River separating Germany from Poland, the burst dam sent a flood wave down. Putting the parts of the twin cities of Zgorzelec-Goerlitz on the German-Polish border underwater.  Goerlitz mayor Michael Wieler told Germany’s N24 TV channel, saying that “the river rose by several metres in the space of a few hours.”  The Neisse was about the height of 7.07 metres in Goerlitz. More than three times it was in the normal level. The German Police said that, “nearly 1,500 people including the residents of two homes for elderly people had been evacuated in the same region in boats, buses and helicopters.” Christoph Wiesener of the Goerlitz fire brigade said, “The elderly in particular are in a state and worrying about their homes and animals,”. In the Neukirchen, the three people was founded drowned in the cellar.  The Czech authorities said “at least three people were missing with next to no chance of being found.”  The flash flooding cut traffic on the numerous roads and some of the streets in the port city of Klaipeda was underwater. The people should be on alert. People should have there own rules about the things that will happen on them. They should follow the people who know the things about this situation. They should be prepared on anything.
